What a failed seal costs you

How do I know the seal has gone rather than the door?
Shut a strip of paper in the door and pull. Where it slides out with no grip, the seal is not meeting the cabinet there. Do that at the top, the middle and the bottom: one weak spot is usually a gasket, three is often a door that has dropped.
Can a hardened seal be softened instead of changed?
