Freezer Will Not Recover After a Power Cut

Check these before you call anyone

Note when the power came back, then check the kitchen breaker and reset it once if it tripped. A full cabinet needs hours to pull down from warm, so allow it those hours first.

Read the panel. A blank display is a supply question; a lit one reporting a warm compartment means the cabinet knows it is behind and is not catching up.

Take the machine-compartment grille off and look at the coil. An outage will not dirty a coil, but it exposes one already matted, because the cabinet must now pull down from warm rather than hold.

Stand near the grille and listen. Nothing running at all is a different fault from something running without pause, and the two lead to different parts.

What an outage actually breaks

Losing power does nothing to a freezer. Getting it back can.
